Radio Villa St. Jean Music Circle
Low Band Live365  Station
Download / Install / Play
Instructions

The following installation instructions are for  Windows XP Professional. Other OS versions should present similar screens, though you may not get all the 'Security" dialogs, depending on settings.

1) To get the radio player, navigate your browser to the RadioVillaStJean Live365  Station website (www.live365.com/stations/radiovillastjean).

If you have a pop-up blocker, temporarily disable it (typically, on a PC, doing a "Ctrl+click" by pressing & holding the Ctrl key while clicking) and click the black & yellow "Play" button.

For new listeners, the 1st time Play is clicked, Live365  will present an opportunity to download it's free player (like needing to download Acrobat Reader to read a PDF file).

1.5) As of 4/30, Live365 has just added a set of required "Free Registration" screens - I will document these as time permits - for now, hopefully they are self-explanatory & when completed, will take you to the original following sequence below.

2) On the Download dialog, click the "Download Player365" button.

3) At the top of the Download dialog, on a PC you may be informed you need to install an ActiveX Control; if so, click on the message & on the pop-up that appears, select "Install Active X Control".

4) On the Windows dialog select the "Install" button.

5) On the Windows "Completed" dialog click the "OK" button.

6) On the Live  dialog select the "! accept..." button, then click the "Install" button.

The free Live365 Player will start loading, during which time it will present an initial 30 second commercial spot (as of this writing, the "Hi Betty" ad).

7) After loading, the free Live365 Player appears, playing the current playlist selection.

9) On the Live365 Player window, in addition to the normal Player controls, in the upper left corner are 2 "RadioVillaStJean" links.

  • Clicking on the upper link launches, as a way to get back to, the original RadioVillaStJean Live365  Station web site pictured in Step 1
    (upper left window)
  • Clicking on the lower link launches the Broadcasters Profile  window
    (upper right window)

Back on the RadioVillaStJean Live365 Station web site window (upper left window), below the title "RadioVillaStJean (Premium Broadcast)" are 3 Tabs, "Station Page", "Broadcaster Profile" & "Broadcast Schedule".

  • Station Page:               the default, already selected, displaying the RadioVillaStJean Live365 Station web site home page
  • Broadcaster Profile:    also displays the Broadcasters Profile  window (upper right window, & detailed in Step 11 below)
  • Broadcast Schedule:   launches the Broadcaster Schedule window, displaying shows for the coming week (detailed in Step 10 below)

10) Broadcast Schedule with inset showing sample filled out schedule of shows for the coming week.

.

12)  On The "Broadcaster Profile" window (upper left), near the top are several Navigation links, "Me" & "My Station | Links | Albums | Artists |. Of particular interest is the "My Albums" link.

  • Me
    • the default, already selected, displays "DJ CliffKat" info
  • My Station
    • describes how Radio Villa came to be
  • My Links
    • top browser favorites

  • My Albums
    • lists broadcaster's personal favorite albums, with links to Album & Artist info.
    • when the Artist link is clicked, pops-up an album cover window with an "Order CD" button
    • when the "Order CD" button is clicked, launches the Amazon Music webpage for purchasing the album

  • My Artists
    • alternate view on My Albums
  • Favorite Broadcasters
    • other recommended broadcasters

Note: The example screens above are  for Henry "Broz" Rowland's current group, "Rowland Brothers", their  album "No Sleep for the Dreamers". Henry was the Lead Guitarist for Villa St. Jean's "The Sufferin' Kind" House Band, (1964-1967), in which I played keyboards & rhythm guitar.

Thus,  the Villa St Jean Music Circle's Monthly Music Recommendations, as  reviewed & broadcast legally on Radio Villa Low Band Live365  Station, provide artists revenue opportunities in 3 ways:

  • By insuring  the broadcast is legal, in accordance with the "Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 114", artist royalties are guaranteed, as described on the homepage for Villa St Jean Music Circle, in the section on Radio Villa, in the paragraph on Legality (what's stated there for the Mercora example applies equally to Live365)
  • By providing Album "click-thru" links to Amazon Music to purchase CD's New & Used
  • By repeatedly playing the station's Playlist 24/7 World-wide, each time a Music Circle Monthly Music Recommendation song airs, the artist garners musical works royalties, from ASCAP/BMI/SESAC, and Digital Sound Recording Performance ("DSRP") royalties, from  SoundExchange/Royalty Logic, calculated under either the Librarian of Congress rate or the Small Webcaster Settlement Act (SWSA),  as described on the homepage for Villa St Jean Music Circle, in the section on Radio Villa, in the paragraph on Royalties

13) To configure the Live354 Player to use your favorite default MP3 Player (Windows Media Player, iTunes/MusicMatch, etc ) instead of the Live365 player, navigate back to  the RadioVillaStJean Station Homepage (www.live365.com/stations/radiovillastjean), and near the top of the page, right below the "Listen" tab, click the "Listen Settings"  link.

14) On the Listen Settings window, in the MP3 Player section, select your preferred default MP3 player by clicking the radio button by either "Windows Media Player" or, for all other players, " MP3 Player", then click the "Save Settings" button.
