The news flash:Sony announces humanoid type robot
“SDR-3X".
Sony
announced the technology of humanoid type robot “SDR-3X"
in Shinagawa Prince Hotel on November 21.
SDR-3X which becomes the first humanoid type robot for Sony has
achieved autonomous two walking while conforming to same OPEN-R
(robot standard which Sony advocates) as AIBO.
Afterwards, the real machine demonstration of an experimental
machine was done for about 30 minutes continuously to a
technological of the demonstration video of about five minutes

■Newly developed actuator
Three kinds of actuators are newly developed to achieve driving
power requested to each joint. [It] is adopted for the knee
joint etc. which support two walking by small high power.
■High speed walk/whole body cooperation operation
The pace of SDR-3X enabled a high-speed walking of about 60mm
and 15m/a minute. [It] controls so as not to fall though the
slope and the antecedent movement are also possible, the trunk
and the sensor in foot back part are fed back.
■Voice communications
The mike is built into the ear, and operation can be directed by
the voice. About 20 kinds of voices are recognized and the
function to answer is installed by the voice synthesis for the
instruction of the voice from among about 20 kinds of words.

A specific color area is recognized with CCD camera installed in
the head. As a result, it can be recognized that the ball
directed by the voice is shot at the goal, and the goal started
the ball.

The PC card slot can be built into, and [it] control by wireless
LAN. The simulator which works on PC is separately developed at
the same time.
